Bethanybecrafting with my new Bottle Cutter!
During a leisurely stroll around Michael’s Craft Store, I stumbled upon a Bottle Cutter…
Why, for the bargain price of $30, coupled with my 40% off coupon, I couldn’t pass up the deal…. this modest splurge was going to “buy” me hours upon hours of crafting happiness…..(Like that pun Nick…)
So last weekend, while Nick and I were entertaining our favorite couple, I thought it to be the perfect time to break out my new jar cutter….it would have been simply rude to keep this joy to myself…
The overall mood of the room went somber…. Nick mad that I hijacked the evening for my own benefit, the other faces doubtful that my $18 jar cutter was going to perform adequately, if at all…myself included…… but none of that stopped me from moving forward with the evenings activities…. I was determined, dedicated…. we were going to test this out as a team….and test it out as a team we did…..
Step 1: Rotate the bottle in a counter clockwise motion while applying 3 lbs of pressure.. doing so will cause an etched marking around the bottle….

Step 2… Insert the long metal instrument inside the bottle and tap lightly against the etching, while moving 1/8 inches apart…..

Step 3…. Cross our fingers and get the the vacuum ready….
So how did we do ……We had ourselves some jagged edges…………we had ourselves some jagged edges! My $18 bottle opener was actually working……….. faith was suddenly restored to all …….. we were going to succeed at this… we were close to perfection….
Learning from our mistakes….we grabbed for our second bottle and gave it another go…. steadying the bottle with masking tape, using less pressure on the edging, and a lighter tapping on the bottle…So how did we do…..
Well look at that… only two bottles down and we had mild success….even the cynic in the room had a smile….

Why, if only I had some more wine bottles…………..
